Housing Specialist
Job Description
EmployAbility's Housing Program is growing and is seeking a Housing Specialist to provide housing support services to CCS consumers experiencing housing insecurity. Housing Specialists work cooperatively with consumers to help them develop skills to navigate their housing search.
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a social services related field
6 Months of experience working with people with mental health concerns.
Knowledge of Dane County resources
Computer proficiency including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows
Driver's license and access to a personal vehicle
Job purpose
The purpose of a Housing Specialist is to provide all necessary support to assist consumers in their efforts to find and sustain housing.
EmployAbility is a social service provider, and all employees should demonstrate professionalism, be cognizant of ethical considerations, act as an advocate for people with disabilities and mental health concerns to obtain meaningful housing and employment, be mindful of best practices when working with people with diverse backgrounds, and utilize a consumer-driven approach to services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Facilitate one on one meetings with consumers
Complete DAP notes
Attend meetings and trainings
Work as a team and cooperatively coordinate with all other EmployAbility staff
Support consumers in housing-related soft skill development
Various other duties as assigned
Working conditions
All staff are currently working remotely with the option to do occasional in-office appointments with consumers who have demonstrated considerable barriers to participating in remote appointments.
When EmployAbility eventually transitions back to pre-COVID operations, the majority of work is performed in a temperature-controlled office setting requiring the ability to sit at a desk and utilize a computer for long periods of time. However, some meetings occur in public spaces such as libraries and restaurants.
Physical requirements
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and drive a vehicle in order to perform job duties effectively. Housing Specialists must be able to operate a computer, phone, and all other office technology
